standard meeting
Another big thanks to all those who were members of the Get Em in the Evening Standard facebook group! I did meet with the editor and things were looking quite hopeful for a while. Sadly they recently got back to me, having decided not to take the cartoon on. Still, I really enjoyed the chance to meet ES's editor and managed to get a cartoon out of it too, when my trusted life-skills had me holding up the main entrance revolving doors. (During rush hour.) Thanks to the ES's security staff, who were very kind and polite.

mslexia top shelf
Em’s spin-off Memo has been running in Mslexia magazine since 2008. It follows its hapless heroine’s struggle to become a published author. Like with Em, it’s based on real life events, depicting scenes both from my own and from friends’(you know who you are) quests for a book-deal. This is the first strip, which featured in issue 39 in 08. The corner shop in question is in Balham, a number of magazines were (finally) purchased and decorated the bathroom floor of our shared house for some months whilst research took place. No short story was ever successfully accepted.
