Spring is here, I felt I needed another blog.
This will mainly be a home for my non-Em illustration work, scribbles, work in progress, wild thoughts etc. If any of this sounds appealing, stop by at: http://www.mariasmedstad.blogspot.com/

As a bunch of you have spotted Em has bid a sad farewell to The Sun. A big thanks to the team there, who have been fantastic to work with over the past three months. Em will continue to appear on this site and should hopefully be back in print soon too. If you can’t wait until then and fancy some goth-fun, Misery Loves Company has just been released and is looking good. Also, this book kind of smells a bit like toasted sesame oil, so just in case the thought of a goth-collection doesn’t inspire you, it may still appeal to the food fanatic in you.

I’ve had the chance to work on some very cool and exciting projects lately.
One of them involved collaborating with Green London, a not-for-profit organisation that aims to make London a healthier place by giving some excellent tips on recycling.
Check out my contribution at:

As you may already have spotted I’ve also done a one-off special for Gothology’s second book, 'Misery Loves Company', which will be published in the spring.
You can see a sneak preview on this site:

As well as the above I’m thrilled to be joining the team at Scan Magazine with a bi-monthly column about the trials and triumphs of life in the UK as a Swede. My first column is in this month’s issue and will be all about carpets.

Apologies for the sporadic and sparse uploading of strips this past week! Things are a bit crazy at the moment. The strips that feature in The Sun will be uploaded with a 48-hour delay from now on, but there should be other treats more frequently on the site for you. Thanks for your patience!

Em will make her Sun debut this Tuesday 22/09. Hope to see you there!

Yes, it's true - Em will be packing her little messily drawn bags and move to The Sun for two days a week. And to those of you who have asked - no, she will not be on page three. I will as mentioned also keep her on here and will work my arse off to get this book that I have promised you for so long to happen.

As most of you know, thelondonpaper is closing. I would like to thank the whole team at thelondonpaper who have been an absolute pleasure to work with. Thelondonpaper has provided Em with a wonderful home for the past 3 ears. I also want to thank all you guys who’ve been picking up the paper (or possibly scraping it off the tube floor) during this time. You have been the best readers I could have wished for and I hope to have you along for whatever adventure comes next! I aim to find a new home for Em as soon as is humanly possible. In the meantime I will keep the strip running here, so stay tuned!

For any Scandi readers out there - Em will guest feature in Nemi magazine in Sweden, issues 3-6. (For longer if you guys like it.) Very exciting! I for one can't wait to see how it translates into Swedish. Let me know your thoughts.
